Fish River Canyon is the world's second largest, second only to the Grand Canyon. I had to stitch together two wide-angle (24mm) shots to get it in the picture below!
We got to the main viewpoint as the sun was setting. The canyon was vast but eerily quiet, and there was only a little water in a few isolated pools along the river bed below.
Our main company, at the viewpoints on a quiet evening, were these blackbirds. The dry, barren landscape was lit up by the rays of the setting sun, and an occassional patch of tie-dye.
