We started our trip with a ferry to the island of Hvar.

 

 

 

 

 

 

We then took the ferry back to Split, which I'd visited briefly in 1994.

I'd been spending time with refugees with an initiative from my college.

Croatia at that time was still fighting a war just inland. This coast was deserted in parts.

It was strange to see things looking so normal on this visit. I wonder what happened to the awful TTTS refugee camp, hidden away behind a dusty truck depot when we came here before.

 

 

 

No, she wasn't looking at me hopefully in the fish market. Its a nice thought though.

We then hired a car and drove up the coast.
