Tsavo - safari

this was my first time in Tsavo

it was thankfully green again after the recent drought

elephant pelvis and spine, almost whale-like - many had died recently for lack of water

green bushy growth and tall grasses made it harder to see animals

(the closest we got to a leopard)

never park a car under one of these!

we saw lots of different hornbills, including big brother below

ground hornbills have lovely lashes and vicious beaks

a butterfly flew behind the tossed caterpilar just as I squeezed the shutter

this was the first time I've seen vulturine guinea fowl

these wild dogs, resting in ruts in the road, were a real treat

funky socks on these lean, beautifully adapted animals
