Jane and I met in Johannesburg, and visited the new Cradle of Humankind exhibition at Maropeng

We were travelling to Taung in North West Province for the wedding of Catherine and Lesego.
We dropped Lesego in Klerksdorp on the way and tried not to drop the wedding cake...

a small tribe of kittens was menacing the picnic spot armed only with cuteness

 

 

the Taung Tusk, an ex-casino stranded without a license, was our home and surreal base camp

we had huge buffet feeds, bland piped music, insanely keen waiting staff and a freezing blue pool...

... while Katrina's son Paul provided lots of entertainment

 

 

 

we made a visit to the nearby quarry where the Taung Skull had been found
